日曜午後5時放送の名作誕生枠 『コードギアス 反逆のルルーシュR2』『機動戦士ガンダム』シリーズなど、名作アニメを世に送り出してきた、MBS／TBS系全国28局ネットのアニメ枠“日5”が、5年ぶりに復活。本作はTVシリーズ初の女性主人公や学園を舞台とするなどが特色の機動戦士ガンダムシリーズ最新作で、新規ファンを意識した作品。結果、毎話放送後Twitterのトレンドを占拠するほどの話題になり、OP主題歌YOASOBI「祝福」も大ヒット。23年4月からの2期放送が待たれる。音楽は、Netflix『浅草キッド』などの話題作のほか、昨年22年には『アキラとあきら』など映画4本、『マイファミリー』などドラマ5本を数える今一番忙しい作曲家の一人である大間々昂。東京、ウイーン、ブダペストで録音し、ロスアンゼルスにてマスタリングされた世界基準のサウンドトラック。
